Feeding and medicating a Bald Eagle

Here is a video of James of SRC handfeeding the injured female eagle from Leland. In addition to these delicious morsels of rat, this girl has also been enjoying large helpings of salmon as she continues her rehabilitation in our clinic. While enjoying these tasty treats, she is also receiving her medication. By handfeeding her pieces of medicated food we can insure that she receives her daily dosages. This is far less stressful for both staff and birds than grabbing her up and injecting them orally.

The cost of feeding an eagle averages $10 a day. In addition to the 8 other birds brought in to SRC during July we also admitted 3 Bald Eagles. We hope you will consider making a tax deductible donation to help us cover the cost of feeding and caring for these birds.
